Terms of Service
Last updated August 24, 2026
Shepherd is a pilot product for volunteer small group leaders. By using it, a church, a program director, or a leader agrees to the terms below. If you’re a group member whose leader uses Shepherd to take notes, these terms don’t apply to you directly — see Privacy for what’s collected about you.
What Shepherd is
Shepherd helps a volunteer small group leader remember who to reach for before a meeting and gives them a short, mostly-voice check-in afterward. It is not a church management system, not a general note-taking tool, and it does not send messages to anyone on a leader’s behalf — every text a group member or guest receives is sent by a person, not by Shepherd.
Acceptable use
- Use Shepherd only for the small group or program you actually lead or administer.
- Don’t enter another person’s information without a reasonable basis for doing so as part of running your group — this is a pastoral tool, not a place to collect data on people outside it.
- Don’t attempt to access another group’s or another church’s data.
- Don’t use the messaging features to send anything other than what the product is for: reminders and check-ins to opted-in leaders. See SMS terms.
Pilot software, no warranty
This is a pilot. Shepherd is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We’re actively building it, features will change, and something will occasionally break. We’ll fix it as fast as we reasonably can, but we don’t promise uninterrupted availability during the pilot period.
Accounts and data ownership
Your church or program owns the data entered about its groups and members. We hold it on their behalf and do not use it for any purpose beyond operating Shepherd for that church. A leader’s account belongs to the program that added them; if a leader stops volunteering, the program admin can revoke their access.
Termination
A church or program can stop using Shepherd at any time and can ask us to export or delete their data — see Privacy for how. We can suspend an account that violates acceptable use, or wind down the pilot itself, with reasonable notice to the program’s admin wherever possible.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the pilot evolves. We’ll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and material changes will be communicated to program admins directly.
